This may or may not work for others but thought I would post what I did to correct mine, and mine wasn't really all that bad but looks better now.
First off my bezel has not been modified, all of the pins are still attached, and did not use any other options, only what I show. There is still some play at the very top right corner but I don't think I can get it any tighter.
ONLY PHOTO I HAVE FROM MY SHIFTER INSTALL
HERE IS A CLOSE UP PICTURE I FOUND ON MY WORK COMPUTER
THIS BRACKET BEHIND THE ASHTRAY, ALL I DID WAS PUSH/BEND IT FORWARD BY HAND, IT DOES NOT NEED ALOT
TEST FIT LOOKS GOOD, ONCE COMPLETED & BOLTED BACK TOGETHER IT STAYED AS PICTURED

Thanks for the heads up! Wish all fixes were this simple haha
"It can't be that simple" is what I said when searching for a solution, but to my surprise that is what was causing my problem, so hopefully others will have the same results.
If you look carefully at pic #3 in the first post you will see that the bracket is riveted to the rest of the frame. So there is nothing to loosen... The trick is to slightly bend the bracket back toward the firewall so the entire bezel will go towards the firewall closing up the side gaps when it is reinstalled...........
Correct, I should update what I said in that photo.
very cool, thanks for the tip, that bezel gap has bugged me from day one
I'm going to give this one a go this weekend!
