Default What is the latest thinking about new tires for the C5?

Recently read about the Firestones at a good price from Tire Rack. Has anyone bought them and if yes what is their first impression.

Any other affordable tire deals at the moment ?

Thanks for input

Dave

I've been very happy with the set of Hankook Ventus V12s I run on my C5. You can get a set in stock sizes for around $600 or less after rebates, which they have quite often.

budget- BFG sport comp-2 hands down. Otherwise if you want a tire with grip, I run re71rs, r888, ad08r, rs3s etc will give you real performance.

Do not cheap out on tires, cheap tires will ruin a great car.

A/S version of these are awesome. Had them on my everyday car (Eclipse) and it stuck like glue to the pavement, superb handling and was awesome in wet too. Liked them so much, I bought another set for my other car.

Jack, I need to re-shoe shortly and the RF's are TOAST! How's the grip on the V12s? Think they'd hook up with a spirited start in 1st/2nd?

Another vote for Hankook, the hook up is incredible compared to the OEM runflats. Your local dealer will likely meet the TireRack price, their shipping is expensive.

two weeks ago I finally got rid of my Michelin run flats. It was time. They were close to the end of life.

I went with the Firestone Firehawk Indie 500s after reading up about a dozen different tire options. It was clear to me that these tires would be the right choice and HOLY CRAP! They have transformed my C5!

Quiet!
Fast!
Inexpensive!
Handling and steering are more precise!

i will never go back to run flats.

On that note, my 2016 BMW 5 Series has run flat goodyears. I didn't realize until after I leased the car. If you get a nail in those tires they cost $400 each

Yep! Great tires for the money and the Continentals are also a popular, well regarded tire for the price.

BFG SPORT COMP 2s on our 06 gt mustang, hate the look of the tire.looks like it belongs on a 4 by 4, that said can't beat them for grip on wet roads.haven't really pushed them hard on dry roads YET!

Everyone has their favorites. I have been using Continental Extreme Contact DWS for about 5 yrs now and love them. I use my car all year, long weather permitting so a All Season was a no brainer for me.
I just recently purchased a set of C6 Chromed 5 spokes and I'll be putting Continental ContiExtremeContact DWS06 on them as well.

BTW: Continental has a Rebate of $70.00 for a purchase of 4 tires going I think to the end of this month !

I put the new Firestones on the car little over a month ago from TR and really like them, they handle great and like the aggressive tread design. Great tire for the price IMO.

ive got a set of these on some TSW'S and I'm running a lot of power and they are really good predictable handling tires, I currently have Toyo R888's mounted but the Hancooks are really awesome tires for everyday use.

I've used Goodyear supercar series non run flat and have great grip and in rain too.

Might try something similar when it comes time.

Everybody has an opinion on tires. You have to research. What is better for your driving style, environment road conditions.

I like my Continentals. DW rear, DWS06 front.
