I wouldn't bother. The HUD isn't all that great and I really don't even notice it anymore. It's there but not something I can see installing. Just another gadget so if that is it, go for it.
I think the HUD is freakin A W E S O M E! Fortunately, my car came with it. There are several threads on how to do this, just have to search and sometimes it is easier to use a Google search.

The HUD is one option I would not do without if I buy another Vette at some point. Check with a forum parts vendor - you should be able to get a price on a complete setup for your car.
I really like it if your are running hard through the gears and want to keep your eyes on the road and the tach at the same time to get the right shifting points. And the technology derives from fighter jets, so how cool is that? When someone sits in your car and you show them that, they usually freak cause they have never seen it before.

I am old school and did not enjoy the image on the windshield. It has been turned off since the 2nd month of ownership.
If it's just a matter of it slipping down there is a diy to fix it with just a metal screw to replace the plastic pin it rotates on.
That's a pretty pricey part. Need to make sure that it is bad. Many folks will say if you look down into the display you should still be able to see the projector, but it's not hitting the mirror...
M<y experience was that I couldn't see anything. Took everything apart to get to it - center console, dash, guage cluster - and investigated. The mirror on mine had fallen like so many others. I did the mirror pin fix and reattached for testing. Viola! HUD fixed. Well... after a few adjustments to the mirror.
I added the HUD to my '00 FRC years ago. The only scared part was cutting the dash pad. There were quite a few guys doing the upgrades a while back. The only difficult part to get was the cable to connect the projector, but I think someone was making them.
I love it. When I traded my Tahoe I made sure the new Yukon Denali had it.
