I am wanting to get a dyno tune on my 2001 C5. Does anyone have any knowledge of dyno tuners in the ansas Ciy, Missouri area? I have found one called Justune but have read great and terrible reviews, both can't be right but it makes a person cautious. Does anyone have any knowledge of them or any alternatives. I have no real mods jusr borla catback and blackwing air induction, just want the best performance.
Thanks
I would recommend getting headers before getting a dyno tune.
Spending 500.00 for a dyno tune with no real mods would give you between 5-10 more RWHP and flatten the torque curve, but headers with the tune would be worth between 20-30 RWHP and give 10-15 more ft lbs of torque.
If you want to go a street tune in the meantime, that would be OK.

Totally. In addition to headers, a good CAI is needed to fully benefit from a dyno tune. Sorry, but these things tend to escalate.

I have been by the RestoMod Shop in Independence and spoken with Justune. Seemed knowledgeable but I have not actually had any work done by him or that shop.
Forum member tbrent is the one that recommended that vendor to me and has had work done to his car by them. You might want to PM/e-mail him and see what feedback he can give you.

you all have got me considering a street tune, I am not really knowledgeable about tuning on these modern engines. In my day it was a distributor and points LOL. All I know is that since I put the blackwing on it it has a dead spot at about 3500 rpm. Does anyone know a good street tuner in the Kansas City area ?
Thanks everyone on here is always so helpfull.

You could always get yourself HPTuners and have a shop remote tune for you.

Others have recommended Chuck Cow and most seem well satisfied.
I think Chuck uses an OBD2 device that plugs into your OBD2 port and collects information related to your various PCM tables. Things like AIC, MAF, Throttle Pos, etc. tables. This information is gleaned and recorded as you actually drive your vehicle. That will give him the information he needs to richen/lean out your fuel/air delivery tables as well as TCM shift points on an automatic trans. He can then send you a bin file full of updates to write to your PCM tables and adjust the settings.
Here is a couple of sample tables (AFR and TP) to give you an idea of some of the mapping table information used to tune your vehicle.
If you want to know more about this kind of stuff, visit here: http://computer-logic.us . Go to the Products page and download the CAN Bus Simulator zip file. It contains a PDF and a CAN Bus Simulator you can run and learn from.

If I did not get your basic collection info and tuning procedures correct, please let me know. You have a great reputation and would not want to incorrectly represent any of your procedures.
Of course my post to the OP, was meant only to provide general information. A lot goes into Vehicle tuning most people are not aware of.
Cheers!

Not to worry..... I took a look at the site you mentioned.. Pretty cool. I'm wanting to get into some more of the can bus
"sniffing" and programming.
Your insight was appreciated. The tool we use is EFI LIVE. You can find lots on the net and download the software for free.
It's what we use and it's amazing.

I will also chime in and mention that anything this man says is Gospel lol. Chuck CoW is a tuning whisperer. My buddy dropped a C5R block into his Z and had at least two (well known reputable) shops give it their best go at it and never was running great. Found out Chuck was coming to Houston for a weekend and got on the schedule. Trailered the Z down from Fort Worth and it drives fantastic! What Mamo is to porting, Chuck is to tuning!!!
