If you sold your vette, what would you get next?

Here is where I would normally say that you don't have to speed to enjoy the acceleration but with over 450 hp you get to speed so fast the acceleration is so short lived it would almost be impossible to stop at the speed limit. It would be like having a member that is 12 in love no and 3 in thick but you suffer from premature ejaculation that is after you get through the erectile dysfunction

Plenty of answers. 1. Silver State Classic and Nevada Open Road Challenge for WOT once you have qualified and prepared your ZR-1 according to the rules.
You also have other open road races ( ORRS ) in other parts of the country. Also consider the 1 mile events in several locations around the country. You might not hit 200+ with a stock ZR-1 in one mile...
however... a number of modified cars do show up so it really comes down to how involved you want to get. Here is a car similar to mine running pretty hard.

Why?
I came from an SRT-10 Viper. Wild car, but I would take my C5 over the Viper any day.
Have you driven one? It feels like a kit car. Tram rails like a SOB. Side pipe dump exhaust fumes into the car. Rear shocks are $800, a replacement used engine is $25,000. You think corvette tax is bad? Try Viper tax... Believe me the Corvette is the sweet spot in terms of price, performance, engineering... I can literally go out buy a cam (dozens of grinds to select from), long tubes, an intake and a dyno tune and go run 11's drive back home in comfort and drive it to work the next day.
The Viper you cant drive anywhere. You'll see what I mean... leave it in the grocery store parking lot?? No.. drive it to work... no Cam headers tune for a few grand.. no ... Not many cams out there, and not for cheap.
But that's just my two cents

Why cant you drive the viper to the grocery store or to work ?
Even if you bought (like I did) a C5 new, long term depreciation is not bad. Bought it in 1997 for (IIRC) about $43k. Now worth maybe $10k. i.e. 33/20 =$1650/year depreciation. And it's stopped losing value, so the equation only gets better.
Would I buy another one? No. I am older and more "adult" now. I want something more "finished" and equally good looking. I think the C5 styling is great, but the C6 and the C7 are not IMO, improvements in terms of looks - especially the C7 (looks like something out of a computer game), and I do want something I enjoy looking at as well as driving. And sadly, that removes a lot of cars from my list - like anything by Lexus/Toyota who seem to have lost the styling plot completely.

IIRC, the last year or two of the 427-428 Cobras, the REAL ones, they were just under $10,000. The problem, I believe, was twofold....$10K, for what was essentially a "toy car", was a significant amount of money in '67-'68. Secondly, the Cobras wouldn't meet ANY of the newly instituted Government regulations, and with such a limited production to spread any costs over, they couldn't justify spending any money to try.

With the longest time I did not understand gassers either, however they are purpose built and just have a very cool look to them. I would not use one on an autocross or road course!
