Typically any of the big chain automotive stores will check it for free. Around here it's Advance Auto of Autozone.
If you keep it charged I bet it's still fine.
I've had VERY good luck with Optima yellow top batteries, not so much with their red tops. In my four vehicles I currently run 3 yellow tops and 1 red top.
Well I sprang and got the yellow top, I made sure to grab the newest one they had and I had them check it before I left. It was from 10-2016 and was showing 12.6 volts. The other two yellows they had were from 2014 and I know not to get a battery that's been sitting that long on a shelf. I brought it home and threw it on my new CTEK MUS 4.3 and it's charging as we speak, it's in the bulk mode right now. It's only been on for about 30 mins or so, but I'm hoping for good results.
Funny thing is the red tops they had were all from a month or so ago, build date.
I also have the ctek and went to a parts store to buy some gold plated terminals for the side posts. Then I bolted the ctek adaptor to that. I also did the same thing with my truck. The Vette has a yeller top that's about 4 years old and it was about a year old when I got it. My 2001 Silverado has had a red top in it for almost 10 years now. Can't believe that's still kicking.
Here's a picture of what I used for my side post ctek adaptor.
Well I am a little late on this but I have the AutoCraft Platinum AGM Battery. It listed for around $179 less 30% off with their online coupon. Search for Advance Auto discount codes. Good luck with your Yellow Top.

It's an East Penn/Deca/Durcell battery, which is good. They didn't have the 78 or 75 series in stock though at my Advance.
If I wouldn't have been standing there with my old battery in the store I would have went to Sams club and got the Duracell AGM for 129.00 to be honest
C5's are battery eaters. Go to costco, get a sealed Interstate, take it back before the warranty runs out and exchange, never any questions. ALWAYS keep it tendered, and once or twice a year do a battery restoration program with your tender. Works like a charm.

My buddies Camaro does the same thing as the Vettes. I have a buddy with a Challanger and it never has any issues with batteries
I have been running a Diehard Platinum battery in mine for the past 6.5 years and not a single problem. But mine is not a DD and I keep it hooked to a Battery Tender Plus when in the garage. Sears does not make that battery anymore, but their Diehard Gold series is a good battery.
I tend to agree that if your current battery lasted 6 years or so, that's a pretty good life from a car battery.
Bought my C5 last summer. It had an AC Delco battery in it. After seeing posts in here of people with serious battery leaking issues (I don't know enough to work on my car), I wanted a new AGM. Went to Sears. I think it was $150 on sale from a normal price of $169. It's a Sears Diehard Gold AGM. Seems good so far.
WOW, I must be one of the lucky ones. Car sits outside all year ( No garage , carport or cover ) , drive it when the weather is nice and never use a battery tender..got 6 yrs out of the last battery which was installed 01-2011. Just changed it a couple of months ago when it finally died. replaced it with an AC Delco Pro.
Interstate Mega-Tron 2 MT-75 wet cell was installed in Nov 2010, I checked recently & the cca was down about 220 cca's, so will need to replace this year.
