Default Car fish tailing under acceleration

Hey guys I've got an interesting problem that just started happening this weekend.

Under Hard acceleration (usually in 2nd gear or 3rd) the car will fish tail HARD and i have to get out of it early.. now i have noticed that it is worse on the more bumpy roads but it happens on the nice flat roads as well (sometimes). I've owned the car for a while now and have done a lot of canyon runs but haven't changed a single thing on the suspension or tire set up (lowered on stock springs and 315 potenza's in rear). Also, under acceleration through a right hand turn the rear end feels like it skips over to the outward tire then skips back over to the inward tire as i straighten out.. But only under acceleration.. if I'm turning without accelerating then it doesn't happen.

Any info guys?

Thank you

Do you have the original rear leaf spring? Also, how old are the tires?

Is the leaf spring supposed to be that angled? The rear of it wants to angle towards the ground.

tires could use replacing in the next 1,000 miles, and yes I believe it's the original rear spring. I just put the car on the lift and noticed that the left rear leaf spring side is higher than the right rear leaf spring side. Not by much but you can definitely tell. Also my alignment seems to be off, the left rear tire has an angle away from the car while the right has an angle towards the car.. very weird. Here's a couple pictures for reference

What kind of power you making? Leaf Springs, TCS errors, and tires are the usual culprits, but depends upon how much power you are making. Those tires look like they need replacing. Tires can make all of the difference in the world. Experiencing wheel hop as well?

460whp and no wheel hop just fishtaling honestly.. pretty alarming amount. I'll be ordering some pilot super sports this week hopefully that solves the problem.

When I bought my Z last year, It had what I thought was good rubber on it, Firestone Firehawk wide ovals. I learned here on the forum how to read the date code on my tires and they were over 11 years old!! The tread was close to new as hardly any miles were put on them. Long story short, when hammered the accelerator shifting through the first three gears my azz end was all over the place. My Z is supercharged with a Magnuson on it so it is making some decent HP. When I saw how old the tires were I immediately ordered a new set of Hankooks and went to 305's on the rear and it is a completely different animal. It hooks so well now and the difference is unreal. When I removed the old tires they had longitudinal cracking down every single tread. So tires that looked like new were junk and unsafe. I would check that first.

When new, my car would skip around on bumpy corners, and that was minimized after I got my Koni FSD shocks. Also, at your power level, a diff., and/or a trans brace would help what we all call wheel hop, but really is a drive train oscilation.

If your rear alignment is as stated, then you have toe OUT on one side, and (too much) toe IN on the other side. Even though this will indicate the correct amount of TOTAL TOE, you actually have the rear end steering your car under power. This condition is highly undesirable, and will have you fighting the car , which is trying to steer the car in a direction different than YOU are.

Other things to consider. 1) Is your posi-traction working? Can check by doing burn out or jack one side of the rear up and try turning the wheel by hand. If it turns relatively easy, you have broken Belleville washers. 2) Check cradle bolts. 3) Check wheel bearings and suspension components.

those tires are legally bald!! Look at the horizontal wear bar across the tread!!! The inside edge will have steel showing shortly!!

The Michelin SS should help a lot. You have a healthy ride with 460 RWHP! No wonder she spins!

When I had Pirelli PZeros on my Z06, the things would spin in 2 and 3rd and I would get wheel hop. The Super Sports solved that issue right away!

Yeah she's definitely an ego killer for a lot of people in my city haha. Nice! I'm glad to hear that, I've always wanted Super Sports on my car ever since matt Farah started talking about them so much on his one takes. my stagger is a little weird at 265 and 305 but it still corners like an absolute animal. Definitely the best car I've owned to date

That means they are pretty much slicks now right?

oh trust me.. it does a good burnout. Cradle bolts were fine and suspension components were fine. Ordered some new tires and will get it aligned properly, hopefully that ends the problem
