Hello Fellow C5 Owners,
This is a question for all, I changed my battery and installed a new one 3 weeks ago. After installation I noticed the radio LED readout displayed the word "LOC". I spoke to a neighbor who is a master mechanic and he said I need a 4 digit code to enter to reactivate and unlock the radio.
If anyone knows the procedure and code I would appreciate the steps required and the 4 digit code to "unlock" my radio.
I own a 2004 C5 Lemans Blue Commerative edition Corvette.
Thanks in advance to my friends in Corvette forum.
If it is anything like the radio in the wife's Grand Prix, the code is originally set by the owner and has to be entered by someone who knows it after a loss of power. The display will read LOC. I seem to recall that the procedure is in the owner's manual (at least in the Grand Prix manual: I haven't had to do it in years) and you only have a certain number of tries to get it right (three or maybe five) or the radio is junk. It is an anti-theft feature. If you don't know the code a GM dealer can reset it or maybe somebody in the forum here can give you the steps. They are listed in the factory shop manual. But then again I may be wrong and Corvette procedure is different from Pontiac. I guess I would play it safe and not mess with it until you found out for sure. Good luck.
I recommend disabling this stupid feature. I also have this in our civic and suzuki. I cannot imagine anyone stealing factory stereos. The code is written on the civic glovebox. The suzuki unit has to back to the factory if u do not have the code. Dumb!
You have to push a sequence of buttons on the radio, which returns a ... 3 digit number. You then call a special GM phone number, enter a valid dealer ID code number, then the 3 digit number from the step above.
It's gives you back another number. Go back to the car, then enter (or append, I forget which) thr number GM gives you.
If done properly (sequenced and timed, IIRC), the radio will unlock.
