Default My C5 is falling apart

My underhood light seems to be missing a part(s). The light itself is just hanging there by the wires, it has a bit of a chrome bezel around it. I thought I could just snap it back in place, but there is nothing to mount it to,or snap it into, just an overly large rectangular hole, that is too large for the light housing.

What am I missing? TIA.

Well, I put my good reading glasses on and took a good close look. Two screws hold the bracket, for the light, to the underside of the hood. Both screws are MIA. I don't see any way to replace those screws without pulling the hood liner off.

My best guess is, they forgot to mount the light and bracket when they installed the new air brushed underhood liner, so they just sort of tucked it into the rectangular hole and it took me almost two years to notice it was loose.

It didn't work anyway. For now I simply unplugged the electrical connector and it can hide out in my toolbox, while I search for a round tuit.

That light fixture sounds like it's aftermarket. The stock assembly was all plastic. If that light was mounted in the same place as stock, I don't think its possible to get any kind of nut behind the inner panel.

Ive had my hoodliner off a few times. The housing for the light on my 03' is actually riveted on. But the harness plugs in near the light housing and there is another connection inside the front bumper (easy access) if you want to remove the wires.

It is riveted on for sure like vetteman said. It's also not an aftermarket unit. I have a slip on stainless cover on my all plastic light assembly and I'm pretty sure that's what you have on yours. Just remove the wire and light assembly if you don't want it back on there. You might have to remove part of the liner to get access to some of the wire retainers. At least I think there were some wire retainers. I haven't had mine off for a while now.
