I highly doubt you'll be able to do that by just lifting the spring. I had to remove mine as the bolts were stuck pretty good and they needed some help to unthread. I just replaced the spring and cut the bushings down.
I must add and coming for experience....you DON'T want to remove the adjuster bolt entirely...you will not like the ride...TRUST ME.
Every bump, pot hole etc, etc you hit will sound and feel like a wrecking ball slamming into your car. Ask me how I know !
I even went as far as gluing a piece of rubber to the area of the control arm where the spring end sat. Didn't help one bit.
I adjusted my springs just last night.....Use a small 2X4 cut down that will fit under spring and jack up. It will relieve the tension on the bolt and you can adjust it by hand. Personally, I found the ride to be pretty lousy once I lowered it down. My factory setting was 5 threads showing and I ran it to 12 showing. Backed it off to around 9 and seems better. Good luck
I wound up cutting the bushings down still on the car with a serrated kitchen knife. Tight working space, but got it done without removing control arms or anything...
Mine were totally frozen on both front corners. I literally spent EVERY night after work for about 2 weeks trying to get them to budge. ATF/acetone, PB blaster, etc wouldnt touch it no matter how long I let it sit (overnight.) I even got so pissed off I used MAPP gas. They wouldnt budge. I got really tired of "monster trucking" it, so I figured I would hack them off with a sawzall. If worse came to worse, I could just replace the leaf spring. I will never got back to having the bolts in place. Yes, the ride is more stiff but the stance is TOTALLY worth it. You have to get used to scraping, cringing like crazy, then realizing its just your flexible air dam and not your bumper.
