Yea...it seemed like a solid deal. They claim to do many so they have the procedure down to a routine now. They didn't charge more for seals because he said it was already apart and not extra work, but they did charge more for the new clutches and springs (original quote was $325). All-in with the new C6Z parts, gears, and labor I'm around $1,300 with taxes.
Who knows, maybe it'll all go to crap after break-in. They're a very highly regarded shop in the area, but only time will tell. But so far, so good.
OK - I blame this thread...and instigators here-in...for getting me thinking about this again. Damn all of you.
I just sent an email to Drivetrain Specialist to see what it would cost to swap my gears to 4.10's.
This is a straightforward swap...car has 36k miles, don't need replace clutches or all that, new seals for sure, but that should be about it. I'm 325 rwhp, so don't need C6-Z level parts.
The belleville washer in your unit might be cracked, I was told they all tend to do that. Mine was broken despite the car being babied its whole life. Upgrade to the C6Z washer if you do it.

Mine we broken too, and my car just had 50k easy miles on it. Upgrade the washers at a minimum.
Only a week to go. And I'm getting excited. Can't wait to try out those 4.10s. After a number of searches on the site it seems that most people lost 1-2mpg highway or no loss of mileage at all. So that's nice. But I can't wait to feel the difference. Anyone have results to share?

It's a Corvette not a Corolla!! With 4:10's I say mileage be damned I'm having fun!
After 15 months and 15k of Corvette ownership I find that the only time I check my fuel economy is on long road trips (over 2 hours). Around town I'm just having too much fun to worry about that stuff. Besides, it's tough to put together an apples to apples comparison with 4.10s to 3.42s around town - the 4.10s make it so much more fun to drive that you're constantly getting on it, moreso than with the stock tall gearing.

Will going from 3.15 to 4.11s in an auto make the same sort of impact? Worth considering?
I'm putting LS6 heads on soon... It's a 99 ..
I haven't really talked to anyone with an auto who has done 4.10s. I would imagine it would be quite impactful as that's a big change from 3.15s. I'm not sure of the final drive though and am really unsure as to effect on top end and economy. I bet it would be a kick in the pants to drive though.

you have to know the manuals have two overdrives 5th and 6th so they can still be driveable for everyday use, not so much an Auto, would be screaming rpm's at highway speeds !!!
Update:
When they opened the rear they found metal fragments that had scored inside the housing so I'm just having them order and install a brand new unit stem to stern. So it will be at least another week. But it will be a brand new performance built rear when done. Not really much more money than rebuilding the existing unit. So I think that will be great. I like the idea of new.
Interest to hear your review as well, my diff wines a good bit, thinking it is going to need attention before I do H/C. My car is more of a back road canyon carver and I was afraid that too short of gears would cause issues with my driving style, at least thats what my previous research pointed too... eventual goal is fun streetable 430 is whp.

I looked at RPMat speed with 4.10. It has such long legs that at 80 you are still only turning 2k RPM. That's nothing. Most of the feedback I got from folks showed little to no change on the mileage. But almost all said it really wakes these cars up. I'll definitely post up what it's like when I get it back. Figure that these cars have 2 OD gears in manual transmission.
