Steering rack leak

Steering rack leak

If I put a new boot on end with small leak will it stop for awhile?
How about any additives?

The boots on a rack and pinion do not hold fluid in the rack. If you have fluid in the boots, or if fluid is leaking out of the boots, you have a seal that is bad inside the rack. We can rebuild your rack and return it back to factory specs.

I have a 98 Dodge pickup that has leaked power steering fluid from the rack since I bought it in I think 2004. I had to fill up the reservoir about every 150 miles give or take. Then I tried a bottle of Barr's Leaks Power Steering Repair (2 part formula). It didn't stop the leak entirely but has slowed it down substantially. If your leak isn't bad (mine was) maybe this stuff will stop it entirely, at least for a while. Good luck.
