We can take some defensive actions like not following close to the car in front. Not driving on expressways. Hugging the shoulder white line for on-coming traffic on two lane roads (especially with trucks coming at us). But stuff still happens. I drive the car as if it is the last time I will. Mine is not a show case. Never wanted that. I will check out knowing I am having fun (or did) with a car that meets my personal enjoyment.
Might even get away with some WD-40 sprayed on it. I'd hit it with a shot of WD, let it sit for a minute, and then scrub it lightly with whatever you use to clean the car with. Will probably take a good chunk of it away before you have to deal with buffing it.

To properly clear coat, it has to be done on a whole panel, not just an area. So the whole door would have to be cleared. If you wanted to do it 100% correctly, the mirror and BSM would have to come off too.
