Having trouble getting a full tank of gas when at the pump. I get to about a half tank and the pump trips out as if the tank was full but only at about half full. If I wait a few seconds I can add more fuel but it takes a fairly long time to get full. Last summer a had the same problem and someone suggested trying a healthy dose of fuel system cleaner. It seemed to work for a while but the problem has returned. My dealer tells me it could be the fill hose or one (or Both) of two fuel vents. Anyone else experienced this problem? Is the dealer correct?
There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB #04-06-04-031) that covers the backpressure from the fuel pump continuously causing the fueling nozzle to cut off prior to the fuel tank being full. This TSB covers Corvettes produced from 1997 through 2004.
The TSB repair includes replacing the fuel tank filler hose with part number 10353139 at a cost of approximately $118.89 for the part. This new hose has been redesigned to provide smoother flow conditions.
I do not know if you use the pump handle auto shut off (tabs that are preset). I did at the only Shell nearby and had the same issue you did. So my work around is to squeeze the gas handle trigger 1/2 half way. Takes a little longer to fill but no further issues.

I've seen the same thing at just a couple of different stations, used the same method you used to get around the problem. Best wishes!
