Hardly anyone thinks about their alternator. The weaker the battery, the harder the alternator has to work. Which would you rather do; replace a battery now or a battery and alternator down the road? Read about the nightmares people have had when replacing their alternator on a C5 and draw your own conclusion.

I prefer to replace my battery.

Personally, I'd be happy with 8 years and move on.

8 years? That's awesome! I'm curious to see what the test results are. How often do you have it off the tender for long periods?

I've replaced mine twice over the last 2 years. Although that's probably my fault. I didn't put a tender on & my beast was parked for over a month. My battery will drain in 3 weeks. Haven't been able to figure out what's draining it.

OP leave it off the tender for a day or two or more and then get it tested. I'd bet at 8yrs old its been on life support thanks to the trickle charger.

At $100 for a battery its worth it in my opinion to replace it at this point ...

Expensive. I put an Exide 75 in mine 4 years ago and 24K miles for 90 bucks. This year I put that battery in my truck, since it needed one and it still worked OK and bought a new one for the Vette. I use a tender and pull it out over the winter and put it in the basement. I have found I do not need a $250-$300 battery.
