Has anyone tried any of the LED replacement bulbs for the under the hood light? The bulb type is 561. What LED manufacture and model no did you go with? Is it as bright as the OEM halogen?
One set started flickering but I got like half a dozen for a few bucks. I'm on the second one and it seems ok for now. Like the guy above me said the old bulb breaks very easily. Mine was dead when I bought the car so I have no comparison to the stock light output.

Ive tried several LED bulbs for the underhood light. From eBay vendors to high dollar Radio Flyer lights, they all seem to lack a "solid connection". Don't get me wrong, they work and are much brighter than stock, but I can't seem to to find one that fits nice and tight, regardless of adjustments and soldering attempts.
Please let me know if you come across a solid performer.
I have read somewhere that they will stay on when the the hood is closed due to the low amp draw.
Any truth to this?
No, it shouldn't stay on for long if it does. I believe there is a timer that turns it to half power after a while and then completely off after a certain amount of time. At least, that's what mine does.
