I posted about this a while back, and like you, can't for the life of me understand why a grown man, would refer to his vehicle as a she, or my gal.
Unless somewhere on the vehicle there is a hole where a man puts his manhood in for enjoyment, I really don't see how a vehicle can be called a she, or for that matter, a he.
They are objects, not a living thing.
"My Vette" would be sufficient when describing the vehicle.
Like you, it irks the **** out of me when I hear someone refer to their vehicles as she.
Bob.
The second I see in a post "I took her for a wash" or "she looked good after the wax" I move to something different.
Don't know why but it's like nails on a chalkboard for whatever reason.
It always seems kinda goofy, but it doesn't bother me. It bothers me more when someone tells a story about their dad and says "dad" instead of "my dad" as if he was my dad to.
I like my car but it is just an it, no personalizing, didn't you guys see the movie Christine.
Most times I call it “my car”, sometimes “my ‘vette” or “the ‘vette”. On occasion I have called it that “piece of crap” that sucks all my money down its black hole. But what I enjoy, is that when I am in it, most call me “sir”. Works for me.
At an early age i remember my Dad calling cars all kinds of names not printable here.I just call mine the Vette.I believe the wife would like to call it sold.
people keep referring to their corvette as '' she'' which , while it probably doesn't bother others , just makes me uncomfortable . it also makes me curious about how one determines the ''gender'' of a vehicle . wife has two c5's and , to the best of my knowledge , they are both neutral . . . peace
Bigcypress is probably a Freudian wish as a result of having small hands.
I speak to my car in French so therefore she is "la belle" which is feminine, I call her also la Corvette which is a name some people think is the true origin GM use for the name.
Next I can expect a post from the OP "people keep talking to their corvette, while it probably doesn't bother others, just makes me uncomfortable.
