I own a 1999 C5 Convertible with 29,000 miles, after a little drive and the car has been running at operating temperature on several occasions when I get out of the car there is a awful smell almost like a dead rodent, anyone have any ideas ? Could it be catalytic converter ?
I would make sure that you don't have a plastic bag or something else burned on the exhaust. I have seen that happen to a couple of cars... bad smell for sure...
I just remembered almost a year ago I was following a car when it swerved to miss a dead possum but I didn't have time to swerve so guess what ? Boom ! But I would have figured it would have been gone by now, Course I haven't put about a 1000 miles on car in the last year.
I would have the cats checked out...most probable issue. Bring to reputable muffler shop and they will tell you when you drive in...lol. Can have them diagnose too.
