The last week or two I developed a rattle in what appears to center by firewall. I thought it was my ops unit relocation rattling around, but I zip tied it and it's still there. I checked the hood bumpstops and played with the hood, checked my wipers and I'm at a loss. It is definitely a rattle and not rpm based tick. It sounds like a bobble more than a rattle if that makes sense. I'm gonna pull the dash next weekend anyhow as I need to replace my hazard switch. Headers going on this weekend so maybe I'll see something. I've attached the video, hoping someone can recognize the sound.
Had a rattle was convinced dash area..turned out to be vanity mirror door. Look around at other stuff as rattles can be deceiving.
I actually did find the source after I posted the thread. Turns out it was the visor. The innards broke apart and were rubbing. Gonna have to see what I can do to keep it from rattling.
I could swear I heard it coming from the dash. Would've never guessed it was right by my head.

Unless you just want to look under the dash for the rattling don't have to pull the dash out ,I just replaced my flasher last week in my 04 ( Make sure a A/C Delco one ) Take the knee boaster out reach up with your hand and pull it out way easer.. To unlock it need two hack saw blades a little WD -40 on them slid one in at the top and the bottom ,find the tabs on the new one you can see were to slid the blades in . You might have to give the old flasher a bump to get it out it pop out them put the new back in the hole and bam done ..
I remember the first year I had my 98. I had a rattle that I swore was coming from the dash area. I looked and looked, disassembled, checked, etc. Turned out it was my targa roof. Sheesh. I made some adjustments to tighten the targa roof seal and the rattle has been gone ever since. I still swear it was coming from the dash. Even had wifey helping to locate. Such fun!!!
