I bought these 18" wheels from a GM tech/mechanic at least 5 years ago. He told me he ordered them new from GM. They don't have any markings that indicate country of origin or who made them. They look like a factory wheel with the exception of a nuanced diffeerence at the bottom of each spoke. I weighed them and they are within and ounce or so of a true speedline. I bought 4 and one is correctly marked with Speedline castings. The other 3, nope.
The only factory c5z wheels were Speedlines or Alcoa. 01's had forged Alcoa wheels, 02-04's had cast Speedlines. The Speedlines were lighter and less expensive to manufacture. If they don't have either of those markings on the inside of the wheel they are aftermarket.
I realize they are not GM Wheels. The guy I bought them from wasn't telling the truth and I didn't check for casting markings, so I got snookered. However, they are nearly perfect copies right down to the weight and paint color. It's a well made clone. There can't have been many folks doing than. The other clones I've seen were really crappy chino junk, heavy, and usually chrome.
They are +56mm and I thought the GM wheels were +58mm. I'm going to get the RR slicks dismounted here soon. Maybe there is some identifier on the inside of the rims.
Wonder if they would work a bit better than oem for someone looking to run 18s on the front since the offset is nearer to what the fronts were oem? Or maybe they'd be worse because they'd be more prone to rubbing the wheel tub or frame on the inside?
