Default Exhaust Detailing

We've owned our C5 for almost 10 years. It came with a Borla exhaust. As a DD we have taken care of it both inside and out. The one sore point is the exhaust. We can bring out the shine easily except for the spaces between the BORLA. Looking for a way to get the area between the letters looking as good as the rest of the exhaust. I've tried a tooth brush, I've tried different cleaners - nothing works. From a distance it looks OK, but I know it's there! Any suggestion appreciated!

Pics would help but I assume you are talking about the tips where Borla is stamped in to the them. Make sure your using a good quality metal polish like Adams. A regular car polish or wax will not usually get the job done.

Try Adam's metal polish or even Mothers polish.

Lots of different methods but they all have a common denominator - work in stages. Most aggressive to least aggressive. If you use sand paper start with a 320 or 600 grit. Work your way up to a 1500 - 2000 grit. This is if you want it to be mirror shiny. Finish it off with a Mag wheel polish like from mothers. If all you want is factory clean and shiny you could use a #0000 steel wool and some aluminum polish, such as mag wheel polish.

Whenever I was faced with a difficult piece to bring back to a shine I have used Simichrome or Flitz polish. Use sparingly and in small areas. As noted, polish will not remove pits and marring so you need to prep the metal first to a smooth finish and then finalize with the polish.

Take the cat back off the car and hit it with a buffing wheel. That's what I do. Looks much shiner than when I opened the box for the 1st time.

What I've always used was 0000 steel wool first than finish it with Mother's Polish. I used to work at a body shop so I learned all the tricks lol.

I've always used Mothers Mag Polish on mine. It takes a little work to get it done but it comes out great.
