Well got into accident the other day as clearly seen from pics. My reason for posting is to ask advice so I can weigh my options to minimize the damage. I am getting a raw deal thru ins to say it nicely. Pretty much what I have right now is what you see and a hefty lil tow/storage bill.
My my question is how can I minimize the damage ? Would it be best to part out ? Or find someone to buy as it is ? Anyone in or around Va that purchases vette to part out. Honestly I'm not sure if that's the only option. Only thing that concerns me is the spot on frame right there behind wheel(well where it used to be) that looks pushed in.
I mean it it looks like it shaved the wheel off at control arms. Now I know I can be way off because I'm no frame or body man by far. So just correct me if I am. I only say that because not one piece of glass broke and everything still opens and shuts fine. Even drivers door gap is still perfect.
Do t want to go on and on so any advice is appreciated.
just throwing this out there. Assuming its electron blue (atleast it looks that way) If you wind up being able to take any pieces off of it. I would love to grab the trunk lid and possibly even the rear bumper
No doubt completely totaled. Out of curiosity, what year and how many miles were on it before accident and how much insurance going to give you for it? Was the accident your fault?
Yes definitely part out. Interior looks OK, rear section of the car seem to be OK from pictures. Definitely not worth trying to fix. That frame has to be broke and/or bent.
Wow that first pic looks brutal. I'm no body man either but that car looks screwed. You could always part it out yourself on the c5 f/s section. It would probably be a good amount of work tearing the car apart and boxing, shipping and dealing with the whole process but I would think you could make some money off it if you wanted too.
When I wrecked my first one at a Race Track, I was tempted to part it out, but Insurance covered it and took it away, and they paid me a lot for it. So it was better in every way.

if that's what I do I will certainly let you know. And yes it is electron blue
yes thanks. Came out of it with only a sore left arm for a couple days and couple bruises on my arm from steering wheel I assume and of course the usual seatbelt rash.

sort of of what I was thinking but just sucks that we just got a new house and instead of parking my Z in it I'm gonna be stripping my broke up Z in it.

if if that was an option I had right now I would jump all over it at this point.
Definitely sounds under insured as in...isn't getting anything.
If that's the case, part it out down to every turn signal stalk, alternator and taillight...best chance you have. Don't sell anything whole (as in, don't sell motor with manifolds, or accessories), don't sell entire rear-end, but break it down. That's to extract max value. If you don't have the time, space or know-how...you're F'd.
Looking at the one pic, it appears you have frame damage pretty far back...that'd be an extensive repair. Certainly can be done, but it'd be a ton of labor for anyone less than completely savvy and equipped.
NCM insurance...can't beat it and too cheap not to have on a C5Z. I pay 400/yr agreed value full coverage with mods. Don't worry about a thing.
Sometimes damages that can't be seen are the worst.
Sorry for your loss but as long as nobody was hurt there is a bright side. As far as the repairs go- a lot of parts under the hood on our cars are unique & expensive- ie: I know that the a.b.s controller is right where the impact seams to be-Mine went out on me & if you look the part up- it looks like it could be a "flux capacitor" all the brake lines end up connecting to it in some way- anyway- back to my example- Mine broke after the warranty expired- ,there were no other options but to get it from GM at the time & with the labor it was almost $3000.00. I had no choice back then.- -As far as your ? -my advice.... do your research- I don't know what your finances are but you may consider looking for another wrecked one with maybe rear end collision & piece them together. Just an Idea. I don't think parting it out would be worth it just for the time alone then you will still be left with a wrecked vette only without the desirable parts.....My opinion only...
EDITED***I just realized the date on your orig. post- You probably already made your decision - if so , sorry to bring up the subject, however I couldn't find anything else as far as parts for sale etc. - I hope everything worked out well for you!!***

I would part it out, like others have said. If you repair it, it may not turn out perfect, and in the end it will be a car with a rebuilt title worth barely anything.
