I have a 3.42 ring and pinion for sale. I think that would be a noticeable wake up from a 2.73 rear but probably not much if you already have the 3.15 gear (those were the two factory options for an A4). Obviously it will affect your highway cruising rpm. A gear would be a very nice compliment to a cam if you ever go that route and enjoyable in the interim. A tune after the install will be needed to adjust shift points.
Full exhaust, cold air and tune are often considered the best first step in the pursuit of HP.
no it won't. Putting headers on a stock car will have zero impact on the value. Sure, you might have a few buyers who want stock, but then you'll have many many people who would put headers on it anyways.
Its headers, not chopping it to pieces. Headers. Can be returned to 100% stock in an hour. Headers. Can be returned to stock without a single shred of evidence that it was ever modded. Headers.
Headers in an hour?
I don't think mods like a cai, headers and a tune are a big deal, but took me a lot longer than an hour to install my LT's. CAI maybe an hour.
I don't track it. Literally only drive it on the weekends to the beach. A4 is double edge sword, the wife doesn't know how to drive manual and the other side is traffic can suck here...often...and even more so on the way to the beach when in season. So it made sense for me to go with the A4.
The way I understand it is a 342 or 373 Rear End is the best bang for your buck
I agree this will be a great wake up but at the expense of some mpg. My Vette has an A4, 3200 stall and 342 gears. My average mpg is 17. Highway 22 if I'm lucky. I'm OK with that, though because I love the way it drives.

Headers will definitely increase the sound at full throttle, and you will likely notice a bit more valvetrain noise due to the thinner metal, I know I do.
I'm guessing by converter you mean catalytic converter, not torque converter. If you mean that you plan on putting in a higher stall converter then I would also look into a transmission cooler.
Many people opt to put in a thicker, stiffer tunnel brace to stiffen up the chassis and reduce the heat entering the car from the tunnel area while they have the exhaust off.
your posts show why most people look at corvette owners as boring... "don't buy fun parts, get floor mats!"
I've probably modded my car 10x more than that whatever you can muster.
I'm only trying to save him money, to learn from my mistakes basically. If I were him all over again and using my low-mile Corvette as a Jeep for the beach, I'd get some stuff to (help) keep the car fresh.

thats a pretty crappy assumption. Either way, you're proving why people think corvette owners are boring, and apparently why they think we're dicks too.
OP, modding is a great deal of fun if you stay within your means, and don't go too extreme. Apparently josh went too extreme since he's 10x more modded than me.

So what's your stupid point? That I'm proving why Corvette owners are boring? Yeah right, that's a fool's argument.

my point is that if you're 10 times more modded than me, then you'll be 15 times more modded than the OP. I would guess you have a built/boosted setup with a lot of suspension work based on the way you talk. The OP wants some headers and a better air cleaner.

Comparing your mods to that is insane.
You've made no point. If you want to waste more time send a PM.
Just an update. I dropped my car off at the shop to proceed with the mods discussed above, along with a couple of other issues. I noticed the LH side diff leaking a little sporadically and I've been having the PCM 1041 code for a while (I replaced the gas cap, still happening, not as frequent but still). The owner of the shop gave it a quick look over and told me he would replace the OEM sway bar links but other than that said it looked good and he'd let me know when he gets it on the dyno so I can come take a look. Should have it back in a couple of weeks, pretty excited.
I've done my research on where I want to go with these mods and I've come to the conclusion I'll go down the SC rabbit hole. I discussed it with my shop and other than the CAI, all my mods will be compatible with adding the SC. They did tell me I would need a new harmonic balancer.
The devilish grin the shop owner gave me when I told him what I wanted to do, sealed the deal.
Any suggestions on SC's is appreciated.

Reason: Grammar
In all honesty "breathing modss" (headers, exhaust, intake, etc) along with a solid tune on your A4 will really wake up the car. I would wait on the cam until you tackle all the low hanging fruit. After you get used to the above mentioned modifications, think about upgrading the diff with more aggressive gears. 3.42 is a commonly available ratio that will wake things up even more.
i like what is stated above!!! I have an 02 z28 with an LS6 crate swap. I also have an A4 with a swapped 3:42. I went the more costly route of ARH stepped design headers. I had JBA shorties bein a California car. Once the header swap....oh man, the difference in mid and upper range is Very aggressive indeed. My next mod is a baby stall which I currently have sitting in the garage. I like stages as you can then feel the difference from each stage. Just to let you know, I am putting down 381 rwhp thru an A4 with the LS6 engine. Itnisbondeed a stout stock package!!

Are you running a CIA? I am amassed that headers alone made that big of a difference.
Just got my vette back from the shop. I went ahead with the mods noted. Stainless AR headers 1-7/8”, 3” LT and X-pipe. I was impressed by the results. Supercharger is next for A&A. I didn’t want to be that guy that didn’t post his results. So here you go.
Nice work. Is that with or without changes to the factory tune?
I’m the 3rd owner so I’m not 100% sure but I believe other than the Corsa catbacks, everything was stock. The first dyno I think confirms that, maybe someone else can chime in on that. I think that’s right where they should’ve been straight from the factory.
