So as some of you may know I've only had my C5 for about a month now. The driver's door has been loose/wobbly since I got it..which seems odd to me with only 46k miles on it. When you open/close the door it wobbles/changes height a couple times through the duration of the full swing. The passenger door is flawless. What's the best course of action here? 100% hinge replacement? Will this create any significant damage if I don't fix it right now? I tried loosening all the bolts & picking up on the door while retightening them, but it didn't do much if anything.
Thanks,
-Matt

Your car likely has a very common problem that will likely become a major headache in the future as OEM doors ceased production a few years back. The door is a SMC shell with an outer SMC skin bonded to it. Over time, the weight of the door begins to jostle the backing plate inside the shell and loosen it relative to the hinge. Often there are visible cracks on the outer skin around the area of the upper hinge as it takes the blunt of the weight. If you do a search here on the forum for "door crack" you'll come across a good handful of threads of owners with this issue.
When I open & close the door I lift up on it & swing it slowly. It seems to help & maybe can keep it from worsening. Not really trying to get into fiberglass repair on this car I've got my hands full with that on the old '72 restoration.
