Thinking about the wife and I taking a road trip from SW Missouri down across the Blue Ridge Parkway. Going to stop at Bowling Green of coarse and end up in Lynchburg, VA then bringing I-64 back. Want to do it in about 6 days. Any suggestions on stops, places to stay, ect. Wanting to see historical sites, not so much tourist traps. I downloaded the mobile Parkway app and ordered the hard copy touring map.
Took a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway a few years ago with my now ex wife. We had a blast and the sights are beautiful. Finally got tiered of all the twisties and headed on down to Savanna. Plenty of things to do and see down there. Have a GREAT trip.
About 20-25 minutes east of Lynchburg is Appomattox where the Civil War ended. Also if you like baseball you can watch the Hillcats the A+ team of the Atlanta Braves.
Biltmore.... Vanderbilt's incredible mansion at Asheville, NC. The town itself is really nice as well. And, I-40 and/or US 441 in Tennessee and Western NC is a fun, scenic drive.

Without knowing your exact route --
I'd suggest the Beechcraft Museum, located about 70 miles southwest of Nashville on I-24
Well worth the slight detour
