Ambient Air Sensor Issue/Wiring

A: Connector style for ambient air sensor.
B: Unknown connector
So the vehicle side has orange and black wires going to a female side "A" connector. The sensor also has a female side "A" connector. So one would assume I needed an "A" to "A" male connector harness. Well, the harness I had was a MALE "A" connector that ran to a MALE "B" connector - obviously didn't work.
So I ran to the parts store and got a MALE "A" connector pigtail and spliced the two males together. Plugged everything up to a new sensor, and the outside temp still read 69. I did some research, found out when you press front/rear defrost buttons and fan speed increase all together, it resets the temp. Well it did, but reset it to -40 degrees... Now my AC won't turn on, because it thinks I'm driving in Antarctica.
Initially, I thought that I accidentally spliced my male to male harness wrong, so I tried swapping wires. No difference, still -40.
PLEASE HELP SUMMER IS HOT AND I'M ALSO WAITING FOR A DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR/MOTOR.
EDIT:
Got it! The random green and gray wires must have apparently stripped out of the old harness (and tucked away). Spliced the pigtail onto them, plugged it up, reset the temp and now it's reading fine.

I found out the orange and black wire harness was for the underhood light (which I apparently don't have)
