Default Clutch Pedal Return Spring?

The past couple of days my clutch pedal has felt less "return-y" than usual. The first time I release the pedal it feels slow to return to the up position, and during the rest of the drive it feels just a smidge less springy than usual. Fluid level in the master looks good. Is this common?

There is a return sping loaded above pedal. If it broke you will find half of it on the carpet below pedal. Can be replaced easily and is cheap (DIY). I heard it has little to do with pedal return and many are not replaced if broken. So I do not think this is your problem but check in any case. Other members will help you there. Good luck, Rob

Yes, that spring breaks easily. It isn't a return spring, it actually assists you when you press the clutch in. It also serves some function regarding pedal position.

Good luck - mine started acting like that and gradually got worse - the slave and master cylinder both needed replacing

I have a few brackets and springs to help pedal return to fully engaged position if interested.

Start by replacing the clutch master cylinder with a Tick one, that's what I'll be doing.

Master and slave were both replaced during a clutch swap last fall.

Mine was broken when I got it. I replaced it and it broke again recently. My pedal has never felt/acted as you have described.
