Default Battery area cover

Hey Guys,

Picked up a battery cover from American custom industries when I was in Carlisle a couple years ago. Finally painted it but can't figure out how it should be attached. It has 2 tabs but I'm not sure how that figures into the equation. I tried double stick tape but that didn't seem right.
Here's a picture of it.

Thanks,

Les

I'm guessing the notched out area goes by the latch and the 2 tabs go under the cowl?

no instructions, but there is a photo installed

"This is our latest - a nicely shaped Fiberglass cover to hide that ugly Battery! Shaped to fit around your hood latch. Simple Velcro installation! "

It's the Velcro part that throws me. I used Velcro on the fuse/relay box to "kind of" hold it secure. I thought the two tabs fit into something but they don't seem to.

I also have one like AEGuy painted in Anniversary Red that fits really snug under the weatherstripping but liked the way the ACI one looked.

I was hoping that there was a more secure way to hold it down.

I have the same cover. You got the Velcro part right. Those two tabs slide between the cowl and the hood release cable, just for stability.

Between the hood release cable and the cowl...ok. I though that might be a possibility but the release cable was so tight I kind of weinied out of wedging it in there. I'll give it another go.

I'm still running 18's on all 4 corners after seeing your vette years ago!

Get some rubbing alcohol . Clean off the top of the battery.

Get some Velcro. I use a 8.99 HEAT gun from harbor Frieght.

Heat up both sides of velcro real good. Apply too top of battery and underside to cover.

It will stick. Preparing the surface good . Will get you the best results.

I've since gone to an 18/19 setup, but I still have those mags.

Did you change the wheels? Post some pics when you get the chance.

I know you "hate" posting pics of your car!

Setup looks beautiful. The new wheels do still give a nod to your old mags.

If I could find 19's that look like my anniversary wheels, I'd probably upgrade as well.

Looks like the same cover I have. I did not want to try to wedge the rear tabs under the cable, so in my case I epoxied two short PVC pieces of 1-1/2" pipe with PVC end caps to the bottom of the cover so that they rest on top of the battery at just the right height and only applied velcro to the fuse box removal **** on the front. Has worked perfectly for several years and allows quick removal. Don't actually have any pics of the bottom of the cover, but can post some if needed...

I was half right. I came across a diagram I made many moons ago about this. I used Velcro on one of the tabs, too.
