I hear the fuel pump go on--i think im thinking alot bigger deal than it really is--its about maybe a second longer to fire compared to when motor is warm and fires instantly

i suspect this as well.

I actually prefer the way both my corvette and my toyota pickup start in the cold, they fire up so fast in the warm that it doesn't even make the cool starter sound

Is there a check valve or something in the pump to hold pressure after engine shut off. Does the pressure bleed back into the tank? Sometimes mine takes a couple seconds to fire after sitting for awhile, too. I try to let the gauges sweep before engaging the starter. That usually works.

Fuel pressure @ 58 lbs. Yes there is a check valve in a rubber line from the fuel filter to the tank that hold pressure to the injectors--i had my replaced few years back--mine is 01 z06--again its 1 second longer than instant start-Im being pickey-maybe needs injector cleaner-
