Z06 needs more power?
I just got the new Motor Trend and they tested the new Z06 Vs the new Viper. They also tested the new Cobra and the Vette did OK. here are some stats from their testing. Vette: 0-60: 4.60; 1/4 mile: 12.85 @114.36....pretty good. The Viper :0-60: 4.12; 1/4 mile 12.37@117.21...very good. To be honest I expected the viper to run faster than the Z06, even though it would be nice to see it faster. Now the Cobra's stats: 0-60: 4.69; 1/4 MILE: 12.84@113.18....faster in the 1/4 than the Vette. I know that Ford is building up the Cobra to compete with the Z06, but I hate to see it faster or even very close. I think that the Z06 need more power, it should be just as fast as the Viper and for sure faster than the Cobra. :smash:

:rolleyes: PI$$-ANT drivers.... many of our guys are very low 12'sssss and some have broken into the high 11'ssss basicly stock Z06'sss !!! :rolleyes:

All I can say is that MotorTrend must have some really awful drivers. I have only been to a 1/4 mile track once in my entire life. That one time in my '01 Z06 I was able to run a 12.95 on a pretty slick track. If MotorTrends can't do better than 12.8 with an '03 and an experienced driver, I'd have to say that was :bs

Check the Car and Driver stats on the cars. Usually Car and Driver have better times when they run the cars. I think Car and Driver just push the cars harder, basically drive them like they should, and Motor Trend doesn't. If you look at past issues, Car and Driver always post better stats.

Motor Trend did test the Z06 a couple of months back at I think a 12.2,so that is better. I think that the temp. had something to do with the slow times, it was 108 degrees. The '03 Viper actually ran slower than in '01. Bottom line is though the Cobra can hang in the 1/4 (and on the track) and I'm sure there are videos of Cobras beating Z06's. MY point is if Ford is going to bring the Stang on the same level as the Z06, then the Vette should own the Cobra in the 1/4 like the F-bodies once did. :smash: :boxing

At the risk of a flame attack from all the drag racers let me say this, 1/4 mile runs rank right up there with NASCAR :sleep:
Having just run with a 2001 Cobra at Mid Ohio (see thread Z06 at Mid Ohio), the Ford is not in the same league as the Z06. No amount of added power would compensate for the Fords sloppy handling of the twisties. I was being kind when I said the pony cars would drift in the corners, they would d*mn near slide off the track when they tried to negotiate a corner at closer to my speed. For all those Z06 owners worried about a 2003 Cobra blowing your doors off, just hang a corner.
