Default No Start - 01 Vette

For the past few days I turn key and hear click but no start. I could jiggle the key a little and car start right up. Last night turned key, no start....jiggled key as I had before, nothing....jiggled many more times...nothing....jiggled again finally it started. Don't want to drive it now because I could get stranded it seems. Does this sound like starter, ignition switch or vats key? Gotta get fixed quick! Thanks

Had this happen one time to me. Tried my spare key (brand new) and no further problem. Hope this works for you.

I wanna say that's a problem with the pellet in your key, I think you can clean it up with a eraser. But like post 2, you may wanna get another key and try it.

That is exactly what was happening to my car about 6 months ago.
Bought new battery, then starter, and still same problem.

Replaced ignition switch (Amazon $64.00) and that solved the problem.

After cleaning key pellet and then realizing I wasn't throwing any codes, I tapped on the starter a couple of times and she fired up. Guess I'll start with replacing the starter.

I think you've gotta remove some exhaust for that. Have fun, I'm not looking forward to that day.

The exhaust has to be dropped all the way down to gain access to the starter.
I had hoped just lowering it a littler would be enough, but no, it had to be disconnected completely, and that includes the rear section, at least enough in the rear so the front exhaust is lowered to the ground.

Yep not looking forward to that day. Unless I build some ramps to drive it on.

I used jack stands, and they worked fine, but the job is still a giant PITA.
Actually the starter did not need to be replaced, but it was a process of elimination.
When the engine wouldn't turn over, and the dic said low voltage, I assumed it was the battery, so I put a full charge on it, and still nothing, so I bought a new one.

Still it wouldn't turn over, so that is when I replaced the starter.

Still it wouldn't turn over.

In desperation, I got really pissed, and turned the key off and on a couple of times,("start you bastard") and the engine fired right up.
Shut it off, and nothing, screwed with the key again, and fired up.

Replaced the ignition switch, and everything has been ok since.

Atleast you got it fixed I cleaned all the contacts in my ignition per a thread (Bill's I think) and haven't had any problems.

Well at least you know your battery and starter should be good for sometime.
