Hi guys. I have a 2001 with manual transmission and a Hurst shifter.. It now has around 90,000 miles and the tranny fluid has been recently changed. For the last few thousand miles it has progressively got harder to shift. By this I mean hard to push in gear. It's virtually impossible to shift fast. Any thought? Thanks
Assuming the fluid used was the correct stuff for the transmission, I would first look at doing a shifter alignment.
I've driven a few hurst shifter equipped c5's and camaros, and wasn't a big fan of the difficulty in general, even though I prefer a stiff shifter.
If the shifter alignment doesn't solve the problem, look into what's called the antivenom mod. it essentially has you install one or two washers on the shift detent plug to decrease the notchy feel between gears.
Also make sure that your clutch is fully disengaging when you push the pedal in. The easiest way to test this is to get on a perfectly level area, put the car in first, leave the clutch in, and rev the engine to 3000-3500 rpm. If you feel the car pull forward even slightly, you likely have a clutch/clutch hydraulics issue. In that case, start with bleeding the clutch.
