Default C5 body panels adjusting

hey guys, I need your help. I live in EU, Czech rep. and here's just little selection od C5s for sale. I bought mine last year, made already 6k miles on it and love it. however, the head lights aren't aligned with the hood, front fascia doesn't fit well with fendersg I would like to loose the bolts and adjust these panels, but could you tell me, where to start? which part is crucial? I've found out, that my car had salvage title - we don't use it in EU and I wasn't aware of it - and the car was in serious accident back in US.

These cars have a LOT of adjustment. They were built sloppy so most of the time you can get a decent fit out of them. Be aware though that there could be an issue deeper down, possibly with the frame, since it has been crashed and rebuilt.

All of that said. If you are happy with the fit of the rear of the car and the doors then start by making the fenders fit the doors. This is because you ALWAYS work length, then width, then height. SO fenders to doors. Back of hood to fenders. Front of hood to bumper and headlight doors and headlight doors to fenders and bumper.

The hood hinges can be adjusted front to back, and side to side. The hood can be adjusted up and down at the hinges. The hood latches can be adjusted up and down and front to back. etc... This could take quite a bit of time and patience. Everything is pretty accessible though. I like to loosen all of the top fender bolts and just work the front and rear ones until happy, then tighten the rest. The middle ones just help hold where you put the others anyway.

the headlight covers are held in place with 4 screws and can be loosened to raise / lower to align or level with the hood....the front fascia is secured by some 10mm nuts where the front of the fender meets the fascia and some torx screws along the top as well as a few others...it is very easy to remove the panels just look around and you will figure it out....a 10mm, 7mm socket and a torx driver is all you need basically

I agree. ^^^ And a 13 for the hood and hood hinges. A thick paint stick makes for a nice tool to check if gaps are even as well.

Thank you for your advices, I'll do my best. I think the fenders fit the doors, so I'll try to move the hood more to the front shield, because left head light still hits the hood by flipping out. I'll tried to move the cover to the front fascia, and there's big gap already, but still hitting.. Here are some more pics, as I am finaly at the computer. I'd like a shop to fit it for me, but I didn't find any shop near who makes older US cars..

If fenders etc. were replaced by aftermarket parts that may be a problem that can't be corrected.

Have to check the backside for manufacturer labels that may still be stuck to them.
