I do have one on my C5 now. It has the filler that shows the plate with a tinted cover over the plate. But the C5 clearly has a place for a plate. The C6 not so much. Unless the bracket is there. A freind of mine has a brother who was a state cop. He told me they are way more likely to stop a car that clearly has a place for a plate. WA law has an exemption for no practical way to mount a plate. He said on my C6 it's a gray area. But not on the C5. But when my C5 needs tabs it will get collectors plates. The way I use it qualifies for them. Then the filler goes in.
I purchased a Miata in 1988 and the wife drove it around for ten years in California without a front license plate. Sometimes the "Heat" just doesn't care.
I too live in WA., but not on the snowflake side of the state. I've not had the front plate on since 2004, and a couple of PD are in the Corvette club; they have no front plates. I realize they can receive professional courtesy, but I've never been hassled.
