Default How to bring the luster back to Z06 Ti tips?

Exhaust tips on my C5 are slowly dimming, even with normal cleaning. Any ideas on how to recover the original finish and luster?

TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

Does your "normal cleaning" just mean with soap and water? If so you might want to try a product like Never Dull, or a liquid paste metal polish sold in most auto parts stores.

Sorry, I should have been more explicit. Yes, just soap and water. I just didn't know if the titanium needed anything different than the chrome tips.

Thanks, and have a good one,
Mike

They won't ever have the luster of chrome, but the easiest way I've found is a little scrubbing with an "SOS" pad.

Best.............

Barkeepers Friend and a kitchen sponge. You'll never go back and it's super cheap. Get it at Lowe's.

I use eagle one. It can be bought any parts store. Silver and black can, has a cotton wad in it. Tear off a piece, use it clean the tips and then wipe it off with a rag. Cleans off everything and leaves them shiny.

Thanks, everyone, for the tips (pardon the pun). Got a Lowes nearby, think I'm going to give that Barkeep a try!

Have a good one,
Mike

If you do use the Barkeepers Friend, please post up before and after pics. Would like to see how well it does.

I clean my tips with a clorox wipe first, then simichrome.

I used a couple of different shaped cotton buffing wheels. I tried different metal compounds and ended up charging the wheels with simichrome or Flitz. I also polished out the black paint from the inside of the tips and polished them as well.

Just found out that there are different versions of Barkeeper's Friend. I've got some of the dry powder version; is that what you use?

Thanks, and have a good one,
Mike

Yes, be careful of barkeeper's friend. there are ones that are like fine sand. I use Bob Ami for that purpose and it never hurts anything.
