hey guys! i been wanting to install a double din in my car since i already have installed amps, speakers & sub sent my bezel out to dennis he got backed up and was killing my nitrous install (switches mounted in cup holder) didnt want to have to rip the car apart more then once so he just sent it back to me being annoyed with time wasted (around a month) and winter coming up quick on us here in Illinois wanted to just get it done and over with so out came my tools!
after a bunch of checking, fitting and mounting i hacked up my bezel and got the radio in, ill be honest it dont look as nice the modded ones Dennis does, over the winder i'll send him a stock one i have around but all and all for zero spent in modding cost i think it looks "ok" better then some others i've seen hacked on but again not as nice as the double D stuff
if your on a budget this might be for you?
i cut (more like notched) bezel at the top of the radio and did the same for the bar that separates the radio and hvac control (didnt want to remove it) then use strips of plastic i had around painted them flat black and glued them on to fill the gaps on the sides of the radio
your thoughts? (honest options welcome)
Edit: i did not need to move the hvac control, only thing i had to do was remove the metal tray under the stock radio

that was just test fitted not bolted in, once i get it fully installed ill take better pic with my camera those are just with my cell phone hopefully tomorrow!
if i was to do this again a couple things i would do different, the vertical cuts i would use a just a hacksaw blade for a better cutting angle using my dremal i could not get a 90* angle and it shows with the right angle it was look better, the strip the separates the hvac and radio again if the angle was the same angle as the bottom of the radio it would look better
over all the final install looks decent but you can be the judge!

I am an owner of a Dennis modified bezel that I also covered in a very leather looking vinyl and others think looks very good, I think your mod looks pretty good. I think if you covered yours as I did mine, it would make it look even better and help to disguise where you cut it, to the point where you'd be able to consider it finished.
