Default Need some help with F45 replacement

Hello, I hope someone can help me out. I purchased the C6 Zo6 shocks to replace the F45 system in my 2001 coupe.

I started on the driver rear. I have the shock bolts out and the lower bolt out as well. So here is where I need some help:

I know i have to disconnect the f45 wires in order to remove the shock and I have purchased the simulators to complete the job and avoid codes.

Where do I disconnect the shock wires? On the shock itself, or if I follow the wire upwards a bit I see two connections, one with a white end and the other is blue. These seem to be the logical choice but as this is my first time dealing with this I just want to be sure.

Thanks for helping. I am pretty much a novice so I appreciate any and all suggestions.

What do your sim's look like? Do they have the connector on them to plug into the factory harness?

While doing research to change out my f45 shocks I found three options. For the sims like you bought they plug into the body pigtail. Plug and play application. Good luck with the rest of the install. You may find it easier to compress the new shocks with wire or string to keep the tension off and bolt them up easier.

Lucky I still have my old shocks. It's the blue connector.

If you have access to a Tech II you can use this procedure
1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.

thanks for the reply: there are two per shock, looks like one goes to the blue, and the other to the white.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I used tech ii to program out f45. So I only had to remove the blue connector to get the shock out. Sounds like your setup will require both connectors to be removed.

Unplug the 1 that goes to the shock not the other 1. Then plug your sim's into that one

Well, there are 8 of these to plug, two per shock. One has three prongs, which I believe is the blue, while the other has 2 prongs, which I am believe will plug into the white. Each set of simulators I have seen are this way with 8 simulators per kit.

Okay do yourself a favor return the sim's and go to Radio Shack and buy 4 10ohm 10watt resistors. That's all you need, then cut the plug off the end off the shocks and connect 1 resistor to each corner of the car then plug it back into the cars harness

Wow. Does that fool the computer into thinking the shocks are still there?
