Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your "new" '98!
You'll get a wide range of responses about mods ranging from leave it stock to supercharging it. My suggestion would be to check out the different sections of the C5 part of the Forum. You'll find many discussions in the Tech, Tune, and Performance sections that may help you.
Also, adding a little more information about what you want to do with your Vette (daily driver, drag racing, road course, etc), could help members give you recommendations. Members in the Gainesville area may also recommend quality performance shops near you especially if you will not be doing the mechanical work yourself.
Quality tunes are very high on everyone's list if you're wanting to increase the performance of your Vette.
Also check the Forum for Corvette get togethers in your area. This will let you meet with other enthusiasts and discuss performance mods with them.
Good luck with your ongoing project!

I'm going to move this to C5 General - you should get some good suggestions for mods to your car there.

How much do you want to spend?
What do you want more from it?
If you have 2.73 years, top area of my list would be a 3.42 rear from any stick vehicle.
Headers, Z06 or aftermarket intake... plus to me the base exhaust is too quiet, no real HP gain however.
More money still in your pockets? Cam and 243 heads.

Congratulations on the new Vette and welcome to the forum. Now, to answer your question it all depend on what you want. Performance or appearance? I have a 02 vert with an A4.

Here are the things I've done to mine over the past 11 years: Corsa Pace Car Exhaust, 3:42 RPM gears, RPM Level IV A4, Yank SS3200 Converter, D/S Zink Plated Rotors, Hawk Ceramic Pads, Stainless Brake Lines, Bilstein Sport Shocks, Blackwing, Smooth Air Coupler. ZO6 Size Wheels and Tires, Body Color Painted Fuel Rail Covers and Brake Calipers, Stainless Fog Light and Body Cove Screens, Performance Tuned by Vengeance Racing.

In my opinion, performance wise, I would change to 3:42 gears. It will make you think you added 50 HP and have it performance tuned. I would also change out stock exhaust. Doing these you will get performance and sound.

Popular appearance mods include new wheels, painted engine bay components, and LED headlight conversions.

Welcome! I would recommend driving the car awhile to get familiar with the car and surface any issues. Then determine what the car needs to meet your wants.

Enjoy!
