Motor starts and runs with constant slap sound. Blowby rolling out of dipstick tube if removed. Reving motor leads to backfires and popping. Power loss. Exhaust ironically looks normal.
I am guessing a ring let go.
What about anything else, like a lifter or valve issue?
Any good way to know without removing the motor? What about just removing the heads?

Pull the plugs & ck compression.(a leak down test would be better if you have the equipment) Pull the cover off the side with the dead hole. Find a friend with a borescope.
Honestly it doesn't sound promising.
