Well, have done all we can to prepare. Have my baby tucked in the garage and hoping for best. We expect the worst to arrive late this evening and last all night.
Not holding out much hope for the house if we take a direct hit as a CAT 3. Not my first rodeo with major huricane so I have no illusions of what to expect.
Figure my roof will be toast and then all bets are off for the contents in the house. This is why we have insurance. Besides its only material things that can be replaced. Family being safe is more important.
We have moved away to stay with family north of Tampa so at least we are all together and better protected.
To everyone who is also facing this storm, I hope you all are in a safe place and you weather this well. Let's keep each other in our thoughts. For now we are in the sit and wait mode. Next will be the hard part -recovery and clean up. Going to be some tough days ahead.

Good luck to you. I've been watching the live coverage on the Weather Channel all day. The storm has degraded a bit as it passes over land in Naples and Ft Myers South of you. May be a Cat 2 when it hits you. Still formidable.
Wish you the best. Been trying to talk the boss into loading up the bucket truck with our tools and generators and heading down, but too much work up here he says.

All you folks in the paths of this series of storms are in my thoughts. Take care of family, pets and neighbors and do everything possible to be safe! Best wishes to all!
First - Thank you all for the kind thoughts and wishes.
Well as everyone has seen on the news, parts of Florida dodged a big bullet, Tampa included. Others along both coasts and in the Keys are not fairing so well. Let us all keep them in our thoughts as the next couple weeks/months are going to be very hard for a great number of people all across our state.
I feel most fortunate that my family and many friends in the Tampa area did very well and got by with only minor damage. We may be inconvenienced with power outages, but that is a minor thing compared to what many others are dealing with.
I'm hoping to be able to find ways to volunteer and assist in some of the harder hit areas with recovery. There is going to be a lot of help needed in the coming weeks.
