C5 insurance for teen.
Im 17 years old and looking to get a 1998 C5, and I'm just worried about how much more insurance will be than it is now. I've never gotten any tickets or gotten in any wrecks and currently I have an 01 infiniti qx4 and liability insurance is around 200 a month. How worried should i be about the cost of liability insurance on a C5?

I expect it will be quite a bit more. How much more I don't know. $350 a month is a definite possibility.

Get the VIN off that 1998 and call your insurance agent or company if it's done through phone, that should be your best bet.
Who knows, maybe it will be near the same price as your other car, just make sure to match the same payouts, deductibles etc that you have on current car.
I was 25 when I got my C5 and the price for the required liability on it was almost the same as the old 1988 LeBaron car I was driving.
Of course I bought better insurance to cover theft vandalism etc and that cost extra, because my 1999 corvette was 4 years old.
I think any male driver under 25 is already getting screwed over just because "male driver under 25" on high insurance rates, I payed 117.00 per month for basic liability when I was 17 on a 1965 chevy pickup (still have it. Lol) in 1995.
I had no tickets or accidents either.

Come on man, I was riding crotch rockets at that age. I'm still here. It's his money. If he works for the car and can afford it, more power to him. Hell probably take care of it and not go crazy with it. Besides it's not like these cars are unforgiving. The stability control works rather well. A live axle car will put in a bad way way before a c5 will. You can wrap any car around a tree just as well as a vette.

Also get quotes with it as your only car and as an additional car. It may be cheaper to have it as a secondary car and keep the qx4 if you can swing that. Best of luck.

what everyone else said, call your current provider and get a quote. Also, call other places and see if you can get something better. I would also suggest to get a printed copy of the quote, when I got my C5Z at 23 in 2010, I didnt get a copy of my quote and I went to buy the car, they tried to screw me over when i finally called back to add the car to the insurance. Since I was on my parents insurance, my dad had to contact them to get it fixed and they did, whew. Good luck and hope you get the car and enjoy it

Make sure that the coverage is the same when comparing policies. Apples to apples. Someone here posted that they got a lower quote from an insurance company and discovered that it was cheaper because the coverage wasn't exactly the same. Unfortunately, they learned this after they had an accident.

Now that's funny. Spoken like someone that doesn't have kids yet.

look into full coverage I know the $ may freak you out still....sure is nice to have if you can fork it up
Nothing unsafe about a C5 sheesh..how many of us grew up on cars with steel dashes and no seat belts that are still here?
More reliable than an infiinity...

Just because its a Corvette doesn't mean you have to automatically get collector car insurance. If you intend to "drive it" then consider your regular insurance. No mileage limits, no mandatory daily driver no mandatory kept in the garage, and no age restriction if you let your under 25 yr old take the car (don't cringe, some people do ) . I would rather be sure the car and I will get fixed and not find out I missed some clause in the fine print. You may pay a little more, unless you're on a first name basis with the local traffic court judge, so it's something to consider.
