Default Broken cigarette lighter receptacle?

On Monday I used my girlfriend's tire pump to air the tires on the corvette, the plug would not go in the cigarette lighter.

It looks like there is something inside there, tried cigarette lighter just to see and it doesn't work.

Need to fix so we can charge phones on trip to California.

I'll get a picture.

From the pic, I would guess that the end of a male connector is broken off in there. Pull the fuse #7 then you could reach in with some needle nosed pliers and pull out the broken piece. If you cannot then you will likely need to replace the 12v outlet.
But there is a second 12v outlet in the console that you should be able to use.

Correction, I was wrong as 8VETTE7 pointed out below.
Pull the fuse #7 before you poke around in the socket.

I replaced the console power receptacle with this:

Amazon Amazon

And the job goes MUCH easier with this:

Amazon Amazon

Good Luck...

P.S. Had to modify the connectors to fit wiring harness. Cut off ring connectors and replaced them with male spades. Also had to grind the spades down a little to fit into the female plugins on the harness. I'm sure there are other ways to do the connections. That's just how I did it.

Opps, my bad.
Pull fuse 7 before poking around in that outlet

Sure does look like a male connector is broken off in the receptacle. Try the above and hopefully the socket is still good.
