New owner and new member. Have been reading forum for awhile but just joined after purchase of 2004 White Vert. It has the Bronze color Magnesium (I think) wheels on it but I kinda like the polished aluminum look better. Is one wheel better than the other. How could I find a set of the polished if I decide to change, would like to stay OEM, if possible. Great reading all the info on the forum and thanks for the help.
The mag wheels will be lighter than regular thin spokes or wagon wheels. By how much I'm not exactly sure.
Mags were an expensive option from the factory (at least at first) and depending on who you ask, they're very desirable from a performance stand point due to their light weight. I'm sure you wouldn't have any issues at all finding someone on here to trade with and you should be able to get cash on top as well.
GM wheels are very good, and if you keep a watch on the parts for sale page you can run across a set of polished thin spokes (my favorite) pretty often for remarkably good prices. Polished Z06, not so often and not so remarkably good prices -- but also very pretty on the car.
If you do a google search of your car by color and wheel thought (i.e. I search for C5 Corvette silver thin spoke) and you'll probably find a photo of just what it would look like.

The magnesium wheels are more of a bronze color while the 50th AE wheels are champagne colored. Here is the paint codes for each:
Magnesium: WA 163D
50th AE: WA 837K
Originally the magnesium wheels were a $3K option, but they decreased in price over the course of the C5 production. I believe at the end they were a $995 option.
The wheels have magnesium written on them. But I am a little confused, the car is an 2004 with 30k miles. The tires have great tread left and look great but have a 2006 date code. I thought they were original. how can i find out what options it was delivered with.

RPO codes are in the glovebox.
I'm about 99% sure the previous owner bought those wheels after he bought the car. As I recall, magnesium wheels stopped being an option after the 2001 model year.
Edit: nvm, they were available all years. The RPO code for magnesium wheels is N73.
