Throttle not coming down to idle right away normal?
I noticed something yesterday that I either hadn't noticed during previous test drives, or it didn't happen before. I took an '01 (6 speed)out for about a 45 minute test drive and every time I pushed in the clutch and stopped for a red light, the RPMs hang around 1000-1200 for a second or two before coming down to the normal idle speed. Is this normal, or was there a problem with this particular car?

was the car stock?... occasionally my car will do that in order to keep the car from dying due to the cam and big injectors but it was tuned this way... a bone stock car should not do that unless there is something wrong or the tune has been messed with

It had an aftermarket air filter assembly, and a Corsa exhaust, other than that, I don't what other mods it had, if any...

Mine will do this too, cam and tune also.

similar situation
I had the same delay to proper idle speed problem after an aftermarket BBK intake manifold install on my 03 LS1. Of Course I went over all my work a couple of times without finding any faults. I thought maybe it was just 'the nature of the beast'. The vehicle will sit in the garage for long periods of time. I went to drive the car after one of these long periods and found the batt was dead. After a recharge, I found the idle concern was corrected. I guess the eng processor had to 'relearn' itself. Hope this helps.

My stock 1999 with 23k on the clock is slow on revving down when there's no load on the car. While in gear it's fine. I mentioned it to my mechanic and he said the system is working as designed.
