I assume like everything else there are different levels/quality of back up cameras. I had DD do my bezel/stereo install last year and while it turned out great I'm not happy with the back up camera. My daily is a 2015 Legacy and the camera in it is awesome. This one lacks color even if I adjust it all over the place.

I guess I need to take a good look at what camera I have and look at the specs.
Thanks for the suggestions.
UNLV - How does that camera mount fit with a license plate frame?
Sorry for the delay. The camera is attached to a mount that slides behind the license plate frame. Wiring goes into the existing opening and ties into the reverse lights.
When I installed my backup and forward view cameras (writeup on here somewhere), I didn't run any wires from the trunk through the cabin to the display- I used the little FM transmitter/reciever thing you can find on fleabay for $6-7 and it works just fine and the oicture is very clear, as good as a direct wire.
The transmitter and little bit of wiring is all neatly and compactly stored in the space in front of the right rear taillight, accessed real easily by removing only the license plate frame by removing 4 torx head screws. The little receiver is tucked underneath the right side of the console on the side of the passenger footwell, just pushed up underneath, nothing removed or disturbed or taken apart. My install used a separate display, if your is in the radio then you have to take the console apart to get to that but there's plenty of room to tuck away the receiver.

When I installed my camera I ran it from license plate area to the right front kick panel as easily as I could under all the carpeting. It really wasn't that hard if you take your time. I installed the cheapest camera I could find on e-bay or Amazon, in case I had a problem, I could always upgrade afterwards. It is a Pyle, about $15. It actually works very well and I have no need to upgrade it. Good color and definition and has backup guide lines.
Power and ground came from the reverse light. This only powers the camera when ou shift into reverse.
There was one wire that I had to run from the camera to the head unit plus the RCA cable- Kenwood. I had th entire interior out anyway so it was very easy. I see above others might have a wireless option which might make things even easier!
I have the Pyle striper mentioned above. Two of them came with my kit from DD mods. It's tiny, easy to install and works better than I expected it to.
