No imports for me. My 02 C5 with 94k still looks great and I can get it serviced at any Chevy dealer. It's my only car and there's nothing else I would want.

Based on all the categories you mention, the Vette is really hard to beat. The engineers and designers really did a great job with the C5.
I've never driven a Viper but that would be a car I think I could enjoy alongside my Vette.

Unless you're talking about 2 different buyers; which also makes the statement somewhat pointless. No?

Miata
Drive one. Would never take one over my vette, but you can take a curve / on ramp at speeds no other car (except the vette) should or could fly at. So low to the ground the handling alone makes it a fun for the day car!

A go cart will do that too, but I have no desire to drive one of those either...

The Z5 is pretty nice, Miata looks like a girls car (flame all you want people, the style says girl same as the color pink to me), and never seen a Porsche I liked.

Like it or not but go to a track day and Miatas are regularly turning times that none of the other cars come close to. Yeah they aren't stock but many vettes here aren't either and it's much cheaper to track a Miata than a vette.
Plenty of LS/SBF Miatas that will dick whip any year vette. I agree I think they're ugly but they're a hoot to drive. At least the two that were modified enough I could squeeze inside
Lotus competes pretty well too

Yeah, but it still looks like a Miata..........
So there's that.

I've been fortunate to have owned, and loved, a wide variety of cars, hot rods, drag cars, muscle cars and sports cars of all kinds. At this particular point in time I just don't think you can do better for all around performance, handling, reliability, looks and value, than with a C5. Sure, you can surpass C5 specs in some areas with newer vehicles out there, but at what cost? Usually multiples of what a beautifully maintained C5 will run you. I've said this before, and at the risk of it getting old, but still never the less true in my opinion, the C5 is still the all around performance car bargain of the century! Take care all!

Methinks you're missing the point. I (I think many) want an amazing driving car that looks great as well. I couldn't care less if some ugly car can beat it on a track. You can probably make a Pinto body beat our car too if you spent enough coin on it. Maybe if I needed a track car I would buy a Miata. I need (want ) a great looking and great driving street car.
(Edit; or I'm missing the point, as the Miata is a "sports car )

Not saying I don't love the look of my FRC, but if I was given the choice between the two for free, even with identical parts I'll always choose a GS/Z over any C5

Some of the guys over on Miata forums are putting down some pretty impressive horsepower numbers with turbocharging and superchargers. I Considered that route until I found out how affordable a Vette is. By the time you buy a used Miata ($10,000 for a decent one) $10,000 for a 2.5 engine and turbo swap, and then you need wheels and tires and brakes and probably shocks, you can have a great C5 or C6. If you already have the Miata your still probably looking at $15,000 to get close to Vette performance. I was 16 in the sixties and I always wanted a 67 ragtop so I will go Vette.

It's all about muscle, bad *** looks, bad *** Borlas, bad *** speed. When that modded Mustang GT runs up next to you on the interstate, you can drop it into 4th (at least in the Z this works!) and make toast out of him. Try that in a Miata. They are gutless girl cars (and I'm a girl). It's all about muscle and I'm a true vette lover, nothing else works for me!
