C5 Convertible trunk release cable

Where is it? Also, water intrusion from underneath ----- flood. Wont start, wont even turn over. Many messages. Where do I start?

It is a white handle right under the latch.
Flood? Could be totaled.

White handle under the latch? I don't understand. Why would they put a handle to release the trunk in the trunk? I thought there was a steel cable that came forward into the cockpit.

It was mandated on every car in case someone was locked in a trunk, they could get out. It's supposed to glow in the dark too. The steel cable opens the tonneau cover and there is another cable in trunk to open gas cap. If you look back you should be able to see the trunk release and hopefully you can reach it. I tied a cord to mine so when the trunk is full I could still open it with a dead battery.

JR-01 Thanks a lot, I understand now. (Have to admit I've seen that handle in my wife's Must... I drive a GMC pickup, no trunk) I'm an old fat guy, maybe I can make some kind of a "grabber" to reach back and pull that handle. Thanks again
