Default Gas gage

My gas gage started acting up on Sunday. When I filled the tank, the gage only went to 3/4 full. It did seem to function normally and showed a decrease in the tank. I am using Lucas gas treatment on every tank. Is there anything I can do other than take it to the shop.

I use Techron about twice a year in my gas tank. When the gas level is at or below 1/4 tank, I pour a bottle of Techron that treats 20 gallons into the tank then add the fuel.

Many owners who have experienced the erratic fuel gauge problem have used Techron and it has helped clear up the problem. It won’t always work, but it is worth a try before taking it in for a repair.

I put the Lucas fuel treatment in when it is below 1/2 tank. I put in approx 4 oz as recommended. I do it before I fill up. It had been working great for the last 2 years.

The car is a 2004 assembled in April 2004, so I don't know if it is an early model or late

I would do as Jack and 8VETTE7 says.
Been using Techron since day one of getting my car in 12/2010 and haven't had a problem.

8VETTE7 was referring to early model production C5's , not late or early production run of the 04.
I don't remember what year GM switched over from accessible to PIA accessible Fuel pumps and Level Sensors

The picture above that refers to "early year C5's" means a C5 built BEFORE late Nov. 2002.

Actual first production date for the FFS fuel system according to the C5 Registry was on Nov. 22, 2002.

I had the gas gauge problem years ago on my 00’ FRC. A large (20oz) bottle added to a 1/4 tank of gas, two separate times seemed to fix the problem.
