Gas gauge pegs to FULL when tank is filled, immediately pegs to EMPTY thereafter. Tank sending unit? Dash Gauge?
Mechanic quoted me 1600 for tank sending unit
Be patient with it. Mine actually took about 6 months before it was working normal again. The longer it sits in the tank, the more it will work to disolve the build up on the unit. I also added 2 bottles of techron on each fill up.
I'm with above posters, Techron into a tank of Shell Premium, keep at it for a while. Good chance it will work out, worked for me. I now stay with Shell Premium, 2nd choice is Chevron Premium. Bottle of Techron every couple of months as maintenance. Good luck!
I think I might need to try a Techron treatment as well. My guage, to the best of my knowledge, gives an accurate reading. My issue is when filling up, the guage will be very slow to climb to "full". It moves up constantly, but it takes 5 minutes or so after I leave the gas station to finally reach the top.

Regarding the fuel, is Shell the way to go then?
A while back I did some research and discovered Shell V-Power has the most additives, detergents and PEA(the active ingredient in Techron). I looked at several independent studies on gasoline brands and their additive packages. I am sold on Shell and will only use it in my C5. It cured my gas gauge problem.

I'll agree with trying some Techron in the gas. Plenty of positive stories about using it here on the forum and I add a bottle to my gas tank about twice a year.
