K&N was $15 at Jockos. Has a little piece welded on the top that makes it very slick to tighten or loosen with a standard socket too. I was looking for something with better filtering than stock and had a hard time finding alternatives for the stock filter. Saw the K&N, always was pleased with their air filters in my C-4, so decided to go with the trusted name.
Champion Labs used to make the Delco UPF44 but lost that contract a year ago. On popular demand from vette owners, GM agreed to continue to offer the UPF44 as a premium filter but I am fairly certain that Champion does not make it. Does anyone know who is the current maker??
I still have a supply of the old UPF44s made by Champion but I will probably switch to the M1 due to the uncertainty of the new UPF44 quality.
Due to the harsh summers and mild winters in HOUSTON, I use 10W-30 Mobil 1.
